Seaside Town Environment UE4

Man, this one took a while. Architectural style highly inspired by Dishonored 2, scene is loosely based on Manarola town in Cinque Terre region in Italy. Spent a lot of time working on textures, was going for somewhat painterly, slightly stylized style that Dishonored has. Most textures were done in Substance Painter.

I went for painter instead of Designer mostly out of curiosity. I wanted to see how well Painter fares in tiling texture department and it's pretty good. I often used hand painted masks, which is something you can't do in Designer, and it works really well with otherwise procedural approach. When I started the project I tested number of different workflows and once I was satisfied with results I basically made a preset that then was used for most tiling textures. Learned a great deal about painter along the way and definitely gonna use for tilables in the future too.

Posting mostly beauty shots here, will post breakdowns separately few days later.

Hope you like it!
