Indiana Jones and The Great Circle - Shanghai Environment Breakdowns

Shanghai oldtown environment - I tackled this space from very early ideation to final shipping, touching on pretty much every aspect of it. Since the environment team was very small, and I often needed to work on this entirely by myself, creating and efficient and smart modularization was a top priority for me.

The most interesting part was nailing the authentic look, which is what breathes the life into our game, in my opinion. In quite a short time, I was drowning in reference, often confliction or driving into different direction. Realizing that, I tried to stick to only a handful of pictures, which would represent the old architecture, taken from villages and environment that survived in their authentic, untouched look to this day.

The other challenge was tackling the destruction aspect, but I will touch on that in the other Artstation project.

Time being tight, as it always seems to be the case, meant that I really needed to focus on the big picture, which meant overall architectural cohesion. Which in this case was a blast, I personally thought that this architectural style was super cool.

Another very important aspect was tackling interiors, sadly I just didn't have the time to do breakdowns for that (yet at least :D)
