Indiana Jones and the Great Circle - Sukhothai Khmer Ruins

This is an area that found it’s life early-ish in Sukhothai maps’ development. Conceptually, it was supposed to be this hidden gate that bound some nasty things inside of it, locked behind complex mechanisms that the indigenous Khmer tribes constructed centuries ago.
———————————
As the player, you’d need to solve a puzzle to unlock said gate and explore the surrounding within the hidden area.
———————————
There was a lot of iteration for the level design, working closely with the LD Aleksandr Nariadchikov, both me and him trying out different approaches for the layout, while Alex nailing the flow of the puzzle solving itself.
———————————
On top of that, I needed to create an environment that would capture the vision of this extremely complex structure constructed ages ago by ppl whose building methods were vastly different from nowadays.
———————————
We tried to explore the subtleties of authenticity while creating an entirely fantastical structure.
———————————
A lot of the visuals would later define most of the Khmer kits used through the rest of the sandbox.

One of the aims was to have overall uneven-ness for the structures while still havent them entirely modular.
